Tableau’s Next | 2022

65 Next-Gen Stars of the #DatFam Data Visualization Community

65 People | 18 Countries | 5 Continents

Tableau’s Next celebrates newer community members or more veteran members who have ramped up their content. These members have a solid potential to be recognized by Tableau as a future ambassador or the program formerly considered the Zen Master program. They share vizzes, participate in the community, blog, and so much more.

I launched this initiative because our newer members, although not officially recognized (yet) by Tableau, are the future of our community and data visualization in general. They represent global growth, diversity, innovation, and leadership.

We will also celebrate community stalwarts who had significant contributions for a long time but have yet to be officially recognized.

Notes

  • Nominators had the option to share why the person deserved to be considered in this Tableau’s Next cohort, some of which have been added to the cohort listing.
  • Tableau Student Ambassadors qualify as their ambassadorship is conditional on being a student.
  • There were well over 100 nominations of more than 90 people. However, many people were disqualified because Tableau already officially recognized them.

Abdelaziz helped us skill up in the data world, especially with Tableau. He mentored us, taught us, guided us, and was there for every question related to Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server. He also advised fresh grads and career shift seekers to start their journey in Business intelligence and data analytics with the main focus on Tableau.

Dom is a classmate of mine in Chantilly Jaggernauth’s Millennials and Data Class. Their dashboards exemplify bold use of color and powerful design. I see them as an up-and-coming voice in the Tableau Community, especially around sports vizzing. I admire Dom’s work and believe they have earned a feature!

Elisa’s passion is to use data to make the world a better, more efficient place. With only two beginner training sessions in Tableau, she ended up overhauling the entire metrics and prospect tracking system for the Development team at the University of Nevada, Reno. Over the last five years, she has been participating in numerous training and challenges, attending conferences and user groups, and learning everything she can to improve her techniques and skills. I believe she will be a powerful player in data viz.

Ethan is a veteran and has been my boss for the last year but even more than that he is my mentor and go-to person to brainstorm in Tableau. He is co-leading the Tableau Veterans Advocacy User Group and pushed me to participate in the Iron Viz competition this year which was one of the greatest experiences ever.

George is one of the most analytical people that I know. He’s always trying to discover the most hidden insights in the data. Also, he has a great eye for good charts, simple but powerful design. He knows very well the Tableau features (also the newest) and uses them very well in his work.

Harim’s out-of-the-box thinking is so reflected in her visuals. They are complicated (technical-wise) yet simple to comprehend and that’s what I like a lot.

Idris has become an active member of the community over the last few months. Idris’s drive & dedication to learning are clear for all to see. He isn’t here to play, he’s here to win! Idris is following in the footsteps of other Nigerian community leaders include Abby Oni and Zainab Ayodimeji and in just a short period of time, he has demonstrated that community engagement and hard work really do pay off. His recent achievements include 2 x Tableau VOTD’s, Vizzie nominations, an upcoming Tableau Buddy webinar, and an ever-growing Tableau Public portfolio. I can’t wait to see what Idris achieves in 2022! He’s definitely on my ‘ones to watch’ list.

While Lisa has been using Tableau for 4 years, she’s been a rising star in the DataFam this past year. She recently broke another layer of a glass ceiling by winning the 2021 Iron Viz competition. I see only great things coming from her.

He was a student ambassador, but the dude is a beast. Viz art, infographics, basic charts, crazy charts. I swear there was a period he had 3 VOTDs in my discovery view.

Nicole has a great eye for design and detail. From her recent winning spree with #VizforSocialGood, #Viz4ClimateAction, and #WomeninAnalytics competitions, you can definitely say that there is an immense potential within her to grow and give back to the community. I find her inspiring and I can bet she is definitely the Tableau’s NEXT.

Raquel is a classmate of mine in Chantilly Jaggernauth’s Millennials and Data Professional Cohort. Her work is consistently clean and impressive. She is growing by leaps and bounds. I’m especially impressed by her designs that incorporate Figma backgrounds, as her most recent participation in the #B2VB Thanksgiving challenge. She demonstrates a commitment to pushing what’s possible with Tableau from a style perspective. And, she backs it up with solid analytical chops — her take on the Regional Price Parity MakeoverMonday data set is impressively digestible considering the topic’s complexity. As an added bonus, Raquel’s voice adds to the diversity of the #datafam. I look forward to following her work and believe other people should have that opportunity also!

These 20 contributors from seven countries have not been recognized as Ambassadors or Zen Masters (like the others above) but have much more time in the community. Regardless, they deserve special mention as their content was and continues to be significant.
